It offers the perfect balance of swift access to London (20 minutes into Waterloo) and a peaceful suburban lifestyle, with a useful high street and Kingston an easy (and scenic) walk down The Thames.

“Properties on the ‘ladder’ of roads between Maple Road and Portsmouth Road are perhaps the most desirable in the area. They are moments away from the river and also very close to the high street and train station. However, Berrylands is a better bet for spacious detached homes with large gardens. It’s also home to Surbiton Racket & Fitness Club, which offers affordable memberships, pristine grass courts and a very decent gym.

“In terms of local entertainment, Maple Road is also home to some great venues. The Antelope and The Gordon Bennett are solid pub choices, while the nearby Grove offers great food and a lively beer garden. Also on Maple Road, The French Table is an lovely restaurant for special nights out, while its sister cafe The French Tarte is your best option for a coffee and a croissant to take on a riverside walk.”
