Step inside the most viewed homes of 2019

As it’s the season to be jolly, we are spreading the Christmas cheer by revealing the most popular properties on Rightmove this year.

Our data scientists have totted up each click to crown these five phenomenal homes as the most popular listings on the UK’s biggest property website in 2019.

From a grand Scottish castle that’s more than 100 years old to a sparkling mansion in TOWIE’s heartlands and a penthouse in Manchester, these are Rightmove’s most viewed properties.

Rightmove’s property expert Miles Shipside said: “It’s great to see such a brilliantly diverse variety of homes available on Rightmove and it’s no surprise to see these five properties at the top of our list. Each Christmas I’m always curious to see which homes have sparked the most interest across Great Britain throughout the year and suffice to say the properties with the biggest personalities or quirkiest features are usually the most popular. Whether you’re seeking interior inspiration or just want to peek inside truly remarkable homes, Rightmove is the place to satisfy all your property desires.”

Join us as we step inside the five homes that’ve captured your imagination this year…

The Only Way Is Essex

Taking top spot is this stylishly contemporary home in the heart of Essex, which is hiding a cheeky secret in one of the bedrooms.

That’s because this nine-bedroom mansion, which has a replica Angel of the North sculpture dominating the driveway, comes with a huge mirror above the bed in the master bedroom.

The rest of the property is littered with mega-mansion must-haves, including a home cinema, two dressing rooms, an annexe games room and a massive garden perfect for family barbecues.

This property is listed for sale with John Thoma.

The Scottish castle fit for Hollywood

This magnificently grandiose castle dates from 1902 and wouldn’t look out of place in a box office period drama or even on Game of Thrones

Glenborrodale Castle is a five-storey Scots Baronial mansion built of red Dumfriesshire sandstone, adorning the steep south-facing hillside which overlooks Loch Sunart.

Panoramic views take in the islands of Risga, Carna and Oronsay and the Morven Hills on the far north side of the loch.

The property also boasts a detached coach house, a gym and a boathouse and jetty. The grounds of the castle extend to an incredible 132 acres and include the Isle of Risga and Eilean an Feidh.

This property is listed for sale with Bell Ingram.

The penthouse atop an iconic Manchester tower

As the only apartment in our top five, this penthouse is pretty special – the property oozes class and sophistication and the views across the city, including Old Trafford, are simply spectacular.

Entering the apartment from the main entrance on the 45th level you will be greeted by the luxurious, curved reception hallway taking in the polished marble tiled flooring and fashionable Wenge-stained timber.

The triple-level home in Beetham Tower is the height of luxury, boasting floor-to-ceiling windows, a cinema room and multiple terraces from which to enjoy the high life, quite literally.

Living the millionaire lifestyle

This gloriously luxurious seven-bedroom family home has almost everything you could want in a dream property; starting with your very own spa.

On the market for a cool £3.95 million, you can imagine taking a well-earned dip in the invitingly glamourous indoor swimming pool or hot tub after a tough day at the office.

The seven-bedroom mansion has been designed with open-plan living in mind, while you may spot famous faces from the world of TV and sport when popping out for milk as the village of Prestbury is popular with celebrities in the north west.

This property is listed for sale with Gascoigne Halman.

The 400-year-old country manor

Steeped in centuries of history, this beautiful country manor is bursting at the seams with character and charm – but now also incorporates the conveniences of modern technology.

Canonteign Manor was once garrisoned for the King during the Civil War and taken by Fairfax in 1645 and has since been inhabited by a succession of prestigious families.

The Grade I-listed home, which features 10 bedrooms, looks intimidatingly enormous from the outside, but as soon as you enter the front door it feels manageable, comfortable and homely.

The huge property is elegant and cosy all at the same time, and amongst many incredible features, boasts ten acres of private countryside, an outdoor swimming pool, hard wood flooring and stone fireplaces.

This property is listed for sale with Fine & Country.
