8 Scary-Looking Homes To Creep You Out This Halloween

Halloween’s back again to terrify us for another year. So while everyone gets themselves into the spooky spirit readying their costumes, carving pumpkins and catching up on their favourite horror movies – we’ve been busy ourselves!

To celebrate one of our favourite holidays of the year we’ve rounded up eight of the scariest looking properties on the market right now.

Some of them are stunning, some of them are creepy but all of them are guaranteed to spark your imagination if you just look a little closer…

Did someone mention taxidermy?

Starting as we mean to go on, Malplaquet House is a captivating building dating from 1741 situated in the heart of London’s East End and it’s quite something…

But when you step inside this historic property is where things get really interesting – it truly is one of the most bewildering and haunting looking homes we’ve seen.

From the taxidermy animal statues to the many, many crucifixes adorning the walls, the place looks like it was lifted straight from a period horror novel – in all the best possible ways!

We can just imagine how many stories a building like this has from the centuries of inhabitants who’ve slept under its roof. Oh, and did we mention the listing includes possibly the scariest photo we’ve ever seen?!

An ancient gatehouse… with secrets to tell!

This Grade II listed gatehouse in Suffolk has been in the family of the current owners for over two centuries and could be as old as the 1500s if evidence is to be believed.

While it’s in need of complete renovations, you can tell the building is just oozing with history – but in its current state it’s making the hairs on the back of our neck stand up!

Take me to church… eeek!

Everybody knows churches in general can give you the creeps a bit – especially at night. This particular church dates back to the mid-1800s and has a gothic charm that makes us think of old Victorian horrors, in all the best possible ways!

Beware when the mist crawls in… and things get eerie!

Up in Wiltshire sits this beautiful 11-bedroom mansion that tickles our fancy in all the best ways, but what’s really got our Halloween #feels going is this snap of the property as a creepy mist draws in adding some seriously spooky vibes.

They’re watching you…

When it comes to grand halls – and scary horror movie trope paintings – this beautiful listed Cheshire home should satisfy your vicarious Halloween scare cravings!

Old doesn’t even cover it…

This property is a delightful and charming cottage but what’s really interesting is that it’s built on the site of a 12th Century castle. Just the fact that it’s within such an ancient building that’s beautiful and haunting in equal measure has our Halloween alarm bells ringing. Fascinating!

Tickling our Halloween fancy!

Up in Hampstead Village in London, the outside of this modernised development still retains its Victorian gothic charm – while immediately getting us feeling a little jittery about the imposing building.

R…I…P!

Finally, over in Holloway and also in London is this house which is stunning inside – but looks more than a little like a pair of fear-inducing tombstones from the outside! We can’t stop looking at it – amazing!
