Aphrodite Hills, Cyprus
the Med just outside Paphos, facilities on offer at the 234-hectare Aphrodite Hills resort include its world-class tennis academy. Featuring eight flood-lit courts, of which four are plexicushion hard courts and four European red clay courts, the Aphrodite Hills Tennis Academy can accommodate players of all standards. At the centre of the Tennis Academy is the Pro Shop, where a team of tennis professionals are on hand to discuss your game and offer advice. The Academy is used by Annabel Croft Tennis Holidays.

Aphrodite Hills is a fully integrated resort – the first of its kind in Cyprus. Other on-site facilities include a championship golf course, award-winning Spa, football academy, a range of dining options and a five-star hotel.

La Manga, Spain
Famous La Manga Club, a 1,400-acre golf and leisure resort next to the sparkling Mar Menor in Murcia, does nothing by halves and tennis is no exception. An official partner of Tennis Europe (the European Tennis Federation) and used as an LTA overseas training base, La Manga’s facilities are rated as some of the best in Spain – little wonder they’ve hosted Davis Cup matches, the Fed Cup and ATP tournaments.

The 28 courts at La Manga include 20 clay courts (including a centre court with seating for 1,200 spectators), four hard courts and four artificial grass courts. A selection of academies are based there.

Off the court, other facilities at La Manga include three championship golf courses, eight FIFA-approved football pitches, a 2,000-square-metre Spa and Fitness Centre, a 5-star hotel and large selection of bars and restaurants.

Praia da Luz, Portugal
An alternative to the chic hot spots of the Golden Triangle, home to a selection of smart tennis clubs, is the smaller but friendly resort of Praia da Luz in the western Algarve. There, the complexes of Estrela da Luz and Baía da Luz both offer a selection of quality courts that are centrally located and used by the Jonathan Markson Tennis Academy.

Between work-outs on court, there are some spectacular beaches to explore in Praia da Luz itself and the surrounding area, while the resort’s pretty old town is always worth a wander and a great spot for a dinner of fresh fish. Being Portugal, golf is never far away and close-by options include the course at Boavista Resort near Lagos.

Belek, Turkey
It might be golf that put the resort of Belek, located on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast near the city of Antalya, on the map but tennis players won’t be disappointed there either.

The Royal Tennis Academy, surrounded by the Montgomery Golf Course and within the Maxx Royal Hotel resort, is a club that boasts four clay courts and five hard courts. Other world-class tennis facilities in Belek can be found at the Sirene Belek resort, with nine clay courts, and the Carya Golf and Spa resort, which has five clay courts, two of which are converted to indoor courts in the winter months.
