Those keen on investing in Canary Islands property may be interested to hear that travel agents expect people to carry on taking foreign holidays despite the credit crunch.

Speaking at the Association of British Travel Agents travel convention, which was held in Gran Canaria, PricewaterhouseCoopers partner Malcolm Preston said that a recent survey by the firm had shown that less than ten per cent of people were looking to reduce holiday spending as part of their top two ways of saving money, Travel Mole reports.

He stated: "There are many things that will go before that, which backs up our feeling that the industry is pretty resilient."

This may be good news for those buying Canary Islands property who will wish to rent it out to tourists for part or all of the year.

Another piece of good news for the Canary Islands came recently with the news that a food firm based there has won a culinary award.

Queso Arico curado pimenton, a goats’ cheese produced by a co-operative in the islands, won the World Cheese Awards title of the best cheese in the world.
