Bargain-hunting holidaymakers looking for a cheap summer vacation could provide a boost to those letting French property this year, it has been claimed.

While the recession has not deterred the majority of people from taking their annual vacation abroad, many are hunting for cheaper options, which may be good news for French property owners, FrenchEntree.com states.

Nina Richards, deputy editor of the website, states: "Although the strong euro has affected some holidaymakers’ budgets, most wishing to go to France have just looked for cheaper options.

"For example, they may choose self-catering or camping over a hotel so they can eat in."

She adds that some of the most popular areas for French property trips this year are Brittany, Poitou-Charentes, Aquitaine, Paris and the French Riviera.

France is a holiday favourite with visitors around the world, attracting 80 million tourists each year, many of which choose to stay in privately let French property offering them the self-catering option.
