A Florida news provider has urged voters to back a series of amendments on the ballot paper this week concerning the state constitution, including one that will give tax breaks to those making homes more eco-friendly.
Floridians will get the chance to vote on the amendments this week at the same time as they are casting their votes in the presidential election.
Newschief.com said those going to the polls should say yes to Amendment Three’s provision that Florida property owners who either hurricane-proof their homes or add renewable energy devices should be exempt from any property tax increases on these additions.
Such a vote could mean that those investing in Florida property will either have more chance to buy properties that have these elements added or be able to add these themselves and gain from the tax breaks.
Last month it was suggested that Florida’s property market is starting to stabilise after a downturn thanks to high tourist numbers.
The Cay Compass said this factor was helping the state deal with the economic decline better than other locations.
