In news that may boost those thinking of buying Canary Islands property for buy-to-let purposes, it has been revealed that a new service has been established from Bristol airport to provide flights to the islands.

Low-cost airline Teleticket has been brought in to fill the gap created when XL went bust recently, providing new flights to Tenerife, Lanzarote and Las Palmas, the Bristol Evening Post reports.

The flights will mainly operate during school holiday periods.

Commenting on the news, Bristol Airport head of sales Jason Wescott said: "Teleticket has recognised the opportunity by creating a 2009 programme which meets demand for flights to some of the most popular destinations."

Such flights may help boost Canary Islands property by increasing tourist numbers and thus raising demand for holiday homes.

Teleticket announced last month that it will be launching new flights to Tenerife and Las Palmas in 2009 from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports.
