The highest area for foreclosures in Florida is Lee County, which contains Fort Myers, new figures have revealed.

RealtyTrac’s data for repossessions across the US show that in the state of Florida Lee County was the worst hit area, suffering 6,454 cases – the equivalent of one in 55 homes.

This contrasts with areas like the neighbouring Glades, where the number of was one in 1,516 units.

Investors keen on buying Fort Myers property may be able to seek out a possible bargain when such homes re-sold.
