Travellers heading to property in Florida could require an ESTABritish citizens travelling to property in Florida and the other states of the US may need to arrange an ESTA before heading to the country in the months to come.

The Electronic System for Travel Authorization is the documentation required for overseas visitors to the US under its Visa Waiver Program.

However, from September 8th a nominal fee will be charged to cover the cost of operating the initiative.

In preparation for this, anyone heading to property in Florida or the rest of the US in the coming two years has been told to apply before the cut-off point to get their ESTA for free.

Paul Bondsfield, head of marketing at travel operator Round the World Experts, says: "If you have booked travel to the USA, or are planning on going at some point in the next two years, then you can benefit by processing your ESTA now."

He adds that the scheme should be good news for many travellers, as it simplifies the immigration process.
