The central Italy region of Abruzzo has been recommended as a dream home destination for anyone seeking Italy property.

Seaside town Pineto and the historical centres of Atri and Teramo are singled out for particular praise as sites of beauty and cultural interest by the Herald, which has launched a competition to win an Abruzzo Italy property.

Describing the Italy property, the newspaper states: "Imagine opening your window and looking out over the rolling hillsides, soaking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the nearby coast.

Pineto, Atri and Teramo are well serviced by an array of restaurants, cafes and shops, according to the newspaper, which notes that budget airline Ryanair operates a flight route from London Stansted to Pescara, the nearest airport.

The region is also home to the stunning mountain ranges of Abruzzo National Park, home to many rare species, including the grey wolf and the Mariscian bear.
