Hopes have been expressed that new air links between Germany and Alicante will provide a major boost to the Costa Blanca tourism industry.

The recent announcement of new flights by Air Berlin to the city’s El Altet airport may herald the arrival of more visitors in the region from Germany, Typically Spanish reports.

Such a development may help those keen on investing in and renting out Costa Blanca property to tourists.

Costa Blanca property owners keen on renting out property may also have been encouraged by a recent report suggesting British visitors are still coming to the region in large numbers.

Last month Spanish paper Informacion quoted figures from president of Benidorm Hoteliers Antonio Mayor stating that winter bookings were at 70 per cent for the holiday season.

Such developments may indicate that Costa Blanca tourism is more recession-resistant than some other areas.
