Those heading overseas for a break could find it useful to learn a few words of the local language, it has been noted.
According to GoLearnTo.com, there is "no culture of language learning" in this country and therefore people who head abroad for a holiday could not have enough confidence to have a go at speaking the local lingo.
"Quite often people don’t realise that they can combine lessons with leisure where you take a few language lessons abroad as part of a holiday," said website founder and chief executive officer Vanessa Lenssen.
According to figures from travelsupermarket.com, 59 per cent of Brits said they were not prepared to try and speak any of the local language when on holiday.
However, such advice over learning a language may be interesting to those who own property in France and take regular trips to the country.
Learning some common French phrases and words could make a break to a property in France easier for Brits and could help them get a true experience of what the country is like.
