For a taste of luxury, a property in Portugal – specifically the Algarve – could see Britons leading the high life.
According to the Daily Mail, singing legend Sir Cliff Richard has a particular passion for the region and owns a vineyard there.
While visiting the area, writer Anthony Richards was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a glass of wine from the vineyard and found that this was not the only draw to the Algarve.
"Portugal’s most southerly region offers historical attractions, fabulous golf courses, pristine beaches … thermal springs at Caldas de Monchique and miles of limestone caves, grottoes, cliffs and bays," he claimed.
The weather is "perfect", Mr Richards noted – as in addition to all the sunshine there is also a refreshing breeze.
Meanwhile, he noted that children are likely to enjoy a visit to a special mountain zoo that has been set up for endangered animals.
People with a home in Portugal may also be well positioned to take part on the Alkantara Festival this month, with Lisbon’s tourism authority announcing that venues across the city will host dance and theatre performances throughout the event.
