Year-on-year growth of four per cent in transatlantic arrivals and departures indicates that more people flew to property in Florida and other destinations across the pond in September 2010, compared with the same month in 2009.
Almost 11,000 flights were handled by UK air traffic controllers going to or from transatlantic destinations in the month.
This is up from fewer than 10,600 in September 2009, reversing the trend for the year so far, which has seen a fall in flights across the ocean.
Meanwhile, domestic transfers and air travel to other international destinations both fell during the same month.
Flights from across the Atlantic which passed through UK airspace but did not land increased in number by an even greater degree of 6.3 per cent year on year.
Travellers heading to property in Florida may also be reassured that their return journey is unlikely to involve a lengthy on-tarmac delay.
Following action to prevent passengers being left seated for more than three hours on the runway, the US Department of Transportation says only one delay was reported in August 2010, down from 66 in the same month of 2009.
