Demand for Florida property could increase in 2010 as an industry body has suggested more Britons could head to the US on holiday as a result of favourable exchange rates next year.

Kate Kenward, executive director at the Association of Independent Tour Operators, believes recent trends have shown that a summer holiday is not something people in the UK are willing to cut back on, despite the difficult economic climate.

She added: "The strengthening of the pound against the dollar could see the US make a comeback too. People are more optimistic about their holiday plans for 2010."

Ms Kenward also suggested now may be the time to buy French or Spanish property and predicted that trips to eurozone countries will become more popular next year.

Earlier this week, the Thomson and First Choice Trends Report 2009 found that Britons are already thinking about their 2010 holiday, with 80 per cent of people expecting to travel and 24 per cent counting on spending more than they did in 2009.
