Stay in property in Florida to catch a glimpse of a manateePeople who have a love for wildlife may want to find a property in Florida between November and March in order to have a unique underwater encounter.

The Telegraph highlighted the US destination as a great spot for seeing manatees – gentle marine mammals.

According to the newspaper, manatees gather in large numbers in Florida's Crystal River and people staying in property in Florida are able to snorkel with the animals.

"Snorkelling is preferable to scuba diving with the manatees, and more personal, as they often approach swimmers and like to be given a good scratch," the publication stated.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission runs a number of initiatives to help protect the manatees and their habitat.

It is estimated that around 3,200 manatees live in the seas around south-eastern regions of the US, with the majority of these found in Florida throughout the year, where they sometimes gather in large groups.
