In news that may interest those thinking of buying Morocco property, Air Arabia has announced that it is to establish a second hub in the country.

The new base for the airline will be in the city of Casablanca, starting in 2009, with destinations including some in southern Europe.

Such a move may be good for those keen to add Morocco property to portfolios that already include real estate in southern Europe.

The news comes at a time when Morocco has been seeking to expand its tourism business through major investment.

King Mohammed VI is planning to make the country a major destination through the creation of new holiday resorts, more airports and possibly even a tunnel under the Mediterranean to Spain, the Daily Telegraph has reported.

The paper added that this strategy seems to be bearing fruit, with an 11 per cent rise in tourist numbers in the first five months of 2008.
