Despite the world economic downturn, tourism in Morocco is still growing, it has been stated, something which could boost Morocco property investment.
The country’s tourism minister Mohammed Boussaid told Deutsche Presse-Agentur that Morocco is expecting to see a growth in visitor numbers from Europeans as they choose the north African destination over more distant locations in order to save money.
Mr Boussaid told the news agency: "I am convinced that our country can profit from the current economic crisis."
The minister spoke as figures from his department showed that the first ten months of 2008 revealed a six per cent rise in visitor numbers to 6.7 million.
Should this growth continue, those investing in Morocco property may find that they are able to rent it out to tourists as demand rises for such accommodation.
Last month the tourism industry in the country was given a potential boost when it was revealed that Air Arabia had unveiled plans to establish a second hub there.
The scheme will involve starting services from Casablanca next year.
