Exchanging funds at the last minute could provide more to take to property in FloridaBritons planning a stay in property in Florida in 2011 could find themselves playing 'currency chicken' as they await the most favourable exchange rates.

Over the coming months, the pound is expected to strengthen its position both against the dollar and against the euro.

As a result of this, travellers who can afford to wait until the last minute could find they have a few more greenbacks to take with them to their property in Florida.

However, Sean Tipton, spokesman for ABTA – The Travel Association, warns against leaving it too late to change money, due to short-term fluctuations in exchange rates.

"Exchange rates are, by their very nature, unpredictable – and it's always a bit of a lottery when you choose," he says.

But he adds that, in the coming year, the UK currency should perform "much better" compared with both the European single currency and the US monetary mark.
