Britons considering buying property in Bulgaria may want to consider their budget and use it as a guide to where in the country to live.
Sue Ockwell, spokesperson for the Association of Independent Tour Operators, explains that money remains a guiding force in holiday plans no matter what the destination.
"Holidays are not prohibitively expensive," she says. "You choose according to your budget, as has always been the case."
Ms Ockwell's comments follow the publication of research by holiday organisation TravelSpec which found 94 per cent of British holidaymakers would be willing to spend £500 or more beyond their intended budget while on a break.
Property in Bulgaria could be available to meet a range of different budgets, with the national currency, the lev, worth about half as much as the euro in terms of its exchange rate with the pound.
This could be set to change in the future with Bulgaria expected to join the single European currency at some point.
