Florida property is popular with BritsProperty in Florida could be a safe investment for Britons to make as the US is such a popular holiday destination.

According to the National Association of Realtors, the number of existing home sales in the US increased by 7.6 per in April, compared to a seven per cent rise in March.

Lawrence Yun, chief economist at the association, said one driver behind these figures is that as house prices have stabilised there has been a return of buyer confidence, while the economy is also improving.

Meanwhile, Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Indices has revealed that house prices in Miami fell by 0.9 per cent between February and March 2010 – with a 1.7 per cent decline over the course of the year.

This could mean that now is the perfect time to invest in a property in Florida.

Paul Collins, editor at BuyAssociation, said: "It is going to be tempting for UK buyers looking in the US because it is always going to be a good tourist market – particularly in Florida and on the east coast of the US."
