The strength of the pound could make property in Florida more affordable to British buyers in real terms.
Freelance property journalist Marc Da-Silva suggests that currency fluctuations are often overlooked.
However, at the moment property in Florida could be cheaper to Britons thanks to the exchange rate between pounds sterling and the dollar.
Mr Da-Silva says: “Certainly shrewd investors will see this as a real opportunity to take advantage of property in the States.”
He adds that a strengthening of the US currency could effectively offset any slight fall in property prices that might occur in the years to come.
Potential investors are also reminded of the cyclical nature of currencies, as sterling typically strengthens its position against other countries’ monetary units before weakening once more.
“Now sterling is recovering – and this is obviously the time when shrewd investors will be going in and doing the maths,” he suggests.
