Shifting exchange rates over the coming months could see property in Florida become a more affordable destination for many people, boosting the Sunshine State's popularity internationally.
According to Sean Tipton, a spokesman for ABTA – The Travel Association, the effect of a strengthening pound against the dollar is always the same: "There is a big increase in visitor numbers from the UK."
This has begun already in Christmas shopping destinations like New York, but could extend to property in Florida and other tourism hotspots as warmer weather arrives in the new year.
"If this trend continues our traditional favourites, such as Florida, Las Vegas and California, will do very well in 2011," says Mr Tipton.
The latest tourism statistics available for Florida track performance in the third quarter of 2010 and show more people arriving by air.
At 9.2 million arrivals to Floridian airports over the three-month period, the figure represents a 2.8 per cent rise over the same portion of 2009.
