When it comes to choosing property in Florida, there can be few nicer sounding places to live than Niceville.
But the area has proved there is more to it than its name recently, after being awarded a Clean Marina designation for nearby North Light Marina.
This serves the residents of property in Florida's communities of Niceville, Destin and Fort Walton Beach.
Among its environmental facilities are a wastewater reclamation and processing system to allow boats to be cleaned using recycled water.
The marina is also subject to a recycling programme to which all of its users must adhere.
With such preparations already in place, the site exceeded the minimum criteria needed for inclusion in the Florida Clean Marina accreditation scheme.
Leisure and boating facilities at the marina include a kiosk providing weather forecasts and radar capabilities, a custom-built station to clean caught fish and a waterfront bar and grill area for relaxation at the end of the day.
