Whether heading to property in Florida, elsewhere in the US or closer to home, there is no need to leave behind your commitment to the environment.
Sue Hurdle, chief executive of the Travel Foundation – which helps UK businesses to minimise the impact of their transportation arrangements – has some advice which could apply to anyone relocating for work or for pleasure.
"Do three simple things," she urges. "It might be saving water by taking short showers instead of baths."
"It might be buying local – spending an extra pound or two on a locally made souvenir."
Her third suggestion is to cut waste while at the destination, which could see residents of property in Florida reducing the number of plastic bags that they use.
Ms Hurdle argues that the decision to forgo green commitments while away from home might not be a conscious one.
Rather, she believes many people simply forget to support the environment while in a more relaxed mood than they might usually experience at home.
