Those who are investing in New York property may come across some unusual activity in the city next month, as the annual New York Sword Dance Festival is set to take place.
Sponsored by Half Moon Sword, the event is being staged for the 24th time on February 14th and 15th and will be travelling around public spaces.
A total of 14 performing groups, or teams, will arrive from across the USA to demonstrate their skills.
The practice itself is thought to have originated from English Morris dancing and other folk traditions and sees a group of people linked in a ring by the swords they hold.
Intricate figures and patterns are weaved by the dancers, working as a team without breaking the circle.
Among the places New York property buyers can see the displays are the Brooklyn Museum of Art and Jefferson Market Library.
Also taking place in the city next month is the New York Road Runners Half-Marathon Grand Prix, a 13-mile race being held on Sunday February 8th.
