A growing number of individuals are interested in investing in Spanish property, it seems.

Estate agent Mercers has reported a significant increase in the amount of enquiries received from British people seeking information about Spanish property in the last 12 months.

Jason Baez Sulsona, a property consultant at Mercers, tells the Times: "I have a vast database of British buyers asking to be kept updated on new property.

"They are anxious to flex their buying power and take advantage of a depressed Spanish market."

The company also reports an increase in the number of people seeking information regarding the possibility of securing an international mortgage on Spanish property.

The surge in interest may indicate that Brits are keen to take advantage of the country’s current bargain prices, believing they will soon see a return on their Spanish property investment.
