Goodwood lies approximately three miles away and provides a private country club, internationally famous racecourse together with a private airfield and racetrack now home to the internationally known Revival meeting. To the south the waters of Chichester Harbour and the Solent provide some of the best sailing facilities within convenient travelling distance of London. Sailing clubs are located at Bosham, Itchenor and Chichester Marina at Birdham. The coastline also has many attractions including the sandy beaches of East Head where a number of coastal sports may be enjoyed including kite surfing, windsurfing and landboarding.
The rich countryside of the South Downs National Park is home to many picturesque villages and hamlets, many with pretty country pubs. Numerous footpaths and bridlepaths provide many opportunities for walking, riding and mountain biking. The city of Chichester offers a wide choice of recreational and social activities including Westgate sports centre, New Park film centre, the internationally known Festival Theatre and Pallant House Gallery which has one of the best modern art collections in the south coast and is host to numerous exhibitions.
A mainline station at Chichester provides a regular service to London Victoria in about 1 hour 40 minutes.
