For those of you not familiar with the Edinburgh Gate development:
The Development of Edinburgh Gate, Harlow

Edinburgh Gate, situated in the heart of Harlow, Essex, stands as a significant symbol of the town's evolving urban landscape. Originally developed as part of the post-war New Town initiative, Harlow has undergone numerous phases of transformation over the decades. Edinburgh Gate, in particular, has seen considerable redevelopment aimed at enhancing infrastructure, transportation links, and the overall urban environment.

Strategically located near Harlow Town railway station and the town centre, Edinburgh Gate has long served as a crucial point of access for commuters and residents alike. The area was initially designed to accommodate the practical needs of a growing population, linking key commercial and residential zones. However, in recent years, it has become the focus of regeneration efforts intended to modernise the space while preserving its functional importance.

Recent development at Edinburgh Gate has primarily concentrated on improving road connectivity, pedestrian safety, and aesthetic appeal. The redesign of junctions and traffic systems has aimed to alleviate congestion, making travel smoother for both vehicles and cyclists. Public transport infrastructure has also been enhanced, with better access to bus routes and improvements to the nearby railway facilities.

In addition to transportation upgrades, Edinburgh Gate has benefitted from surrounding commercial and residential developments. New buildings, featuring contemporary architectural styles, have contributed to a more dynamic and welcoming atmosphere. These developments not only provide additional housing and business opportunities but also reflect Harlow's broader commitment to sustainable urban planning.

Environmental considerations have played a key role in shaping the redevelopment strategy. Green spaces, improved lighting, and upgraded footpaths have been incorporated to create a safer and more attractive environment for pedestrians. These features aim to encourage walking and cycling, aligning with regional sustainability goals.

While the redevelopment of Edinburgh Gate is part of a larger vision for Harlow's future, it also honours the town's legacy as one of Britain's first post-war New Towns. The ongoing transformation of the area exemplifies a balance between preserving heritage and embracing innovation, with an eye toward meeting the needs of future generations.

As work continues, Edinburgh Gate is set to remain a vital artery in Harlow's infrastructure and a key focal point for its urban renaissance.

As any penthouse apartment should, this property oozes class and sophistication.
It is the 'prima donna' of apartments in this splendid and highly sought after development.
As you browse through the images, you will see straight away how well the owner has looked after the property since she purchased it from new in 2019. She obviously has an eye for interior design. Well done!
I have often thought that owners of property in Edinburgh House must be extremely proud when friends and family come to visit. Upon entering the complex you get this feel of grandeur.
The concourse is splendid and definitely has the wow factor and the lifts also appear classy and smooth as it takes you to the fifth floor where we find this cracking penthouse apartment.
The main hub of this lovely two bedroom, two bathroom property is the en point open plan living / dining / cooking hub.
I've said this many times recently, open plan is bang back in fashion and long may it remain, because it is practical and becomes all inclusive when everyone is home after a long days work or when entertaining.
It is spacious (as you can see from the images) and again, the soft furnishings show it off superbly well.
The kitchen area is fully fitted with all the usual white goods. The cupboards and drawers are lovely and plentiful as are the work surfaces.
It is sometimes the little things that seem innocuous until you realise exactly what they do, and in this case a small mirror cleverly located suddenly makes the space look so much bigger! Clever touch!
There is a ceiling lantern above the kitchen area which throws in oodles of natural light.
The dining and living areas are currently home to a good size dining table and chairs as well as two sofas, so you can see that space is not a problem here!
Off the lounge area you can access the 'L' shaped balcony where you can sit in the warmer months. The current owner has outdoor furniture which allows a nice relaxing situation when wanting some fresh air. With views looking over the Edinburgh Gate complex as well as the absolutely wonderful Harlow Town Park, we appreciate why this owner spends so much time out there. The large master bedroom has a good size en suite and there is a smaller double bedroom as well.
The family bathroom is delightful and like the rest of this property is decorated to a very high standard. The entire property has high grade wood effect flooring.
PLUS, a massive bonus: This property has access to the wonderful communal roof garden where on warmer days is an idyllic to spend some time.
Geographically the property is ideally placed. Just a 2 min walk and you are at Harlow Town Station with direct routes to London Liverpool Street, Stansted Airport & Cambridge. There are also local shops there and a Gym. Allocated car parking and a good amount of visitor parking means a 2 min drive to the A414 and the M11 is just a 5 min drive in the opposite direction. Harlow Town Park is a 1 minute walk away and it isn't just any old park! Harlow Town Park is magnificent. The current owner tells us that she loves 'popping' across the road to visit Pets Corner. Pets Corner is fabulous and gets bigger and better every year. The latest additions are Meerkats! Simples!! Its a great thing to have on your doorstep.
For those of you who enjoy riverside walks, the river Stort is a stones throw away and you can walk or cycle for miles and take in nature reserves etc.
So we know we have a splendid penthouse apartment, we know the complex is fabulous and we know that there are lots of amenities on its doorstep, but what is living in the town of Harlow actually like? Let's find out:
Living in Harlow: A Town of Contrasts and Community

Nestled in the west of Essex, Harlow is a town that often surprises both residents and visitors with its contrasts. With its post-war roots, green spaces, diverse communities, and evolving town centre, living in Harlow presents a mix of challenges and charms that make it unique in the South East.

A New Town with Old Roots

Harlow was one of the original New Towns built after the Second World War, designed to house Londoners looking for a fresh start beyond the capital's sprawl. Its layout reflects this planning: residential estates, pedestrian pathways, and green belts are all part of its DNA. Yet, beneath its modern façade lie traces of history - from remnants of the Roman occupation to the charming old town with its traditional pubs and character homes.

Green Spaces and Nature

One of the most celebrated aspects of living in Harlow is its greenery. The town boasts hundreds of acres of parks, woodlands and nature reserves. Places like the Town Park, Parndon Wood Nature Reserve, and the River Stort Navigation offer tranquil escapes from urban life. For families, dog walkers, and runners, these spaces provide a breath of fresh air and a sense of calm rarely found in similarly sized towns.

Transport and Connectivity

Harlow is well connected, which is a major draw for commuters. With two railway stations - Harlow Town and Harlow Mill - regular trains whisk residents into London Liverpool Street in under 40 minutes. The M11 motorway and proximity to Stansted Airport also make travel convenient. Despite some grumbles about local bus services, most would agree that getting in and out of Harlow is relatively straightforward.

The Community and Culture

Harlow is home to a diverse and evolving population. A mix of long-time locals, newcomers from London, and families from across the UK gives the town a multicultural flavour. The town's schools are a focal point for many families, with a mixture of primary and secondary options, and a college offering further education.

Cultural life is present, if understated. The Harlow Playhouse puts on a range of performances, from panto to local theatre, and the Gibberd Gallery - named after the town's architect, Sir Frederick Gibberd - showcases contemporary art. Harlow Sculpture Town, with pieces dotted throughout the landscape, quietly celebrates public art in everyday life.

Many residents speak of a strong sense of local identity and resilience. There's a pride in the community - in grassroots sports teams, school achievements, and neighbours looking out for each other. Local initiatives and charities work hard to support those in need and foster a spirit of togetherness.

Looking Ahead

Harlow is a town in transition. Plans for housing expansion, business development, and improvements to infrastructure offer hope for the future. There's talk of a "Harlow of tomorrow" - with better facilities, revitalised shopping, and more job opportunities.

Living in Harlow means living in a town that's constantly adapting. It's a place where modern ambitions meet a layered past, where green space softens urban sprawl, and where community spirit rises above the challenges. It may not be perfect, but for many, Harlow is home - and that means more than any reputation can define.
* Conditional sale means that the lucky new owner(s) will have to pay a reservation fee of 1% + VAT to secure the property. This needs to be factored in when making an offer. This will not mean you will have to pay more money to purchase the property. Please call the office for full details.

About Jukes Estate Agents, Harlow

Latton Bush Centre, Southern Way, Harlow, CM18 7BL

ABOUT US...

A chance meeting some time ago between Lee Venables & Geoff Flewers saw their conversation turn to estate

agents and how bad an experience they had both had when selling their own properties.

Wind forward 18 months and they were both running Town and Country Herts & Essex Estate Agents. They

became more convinced than ever that the dubious, archaic & darn right bad practices of far too many estate

agents were simply not going to stop. These cause major headaches & heartbreaks for vendors & sellers alike.

For example:

51.8% of all UK home sellers fail to sell within 10 months [source: Jefferies International Investment Bank]

40% of all Harlow sales collapse before exchange of contracts [source: Rightmove]

£2,899 is the average amount a home mover will lose though having a transaction collapse [source: Which?

Mortgage Advisors]

35% of all UK homes currently for sale are marked 'price reduced' [source: Zoopla]

35-40% of all sales are successful only after a change of estate agent [source: Rightmove]

Enough was enough for Lee & Geoff and in July 2023 they formed their own company and JUKES ESTATE AGENTS was

born. Their mantra "Changing the way Estate Agents work!" is exactly what they have been doing & will continue to do!

Based in Harlow but with satellite offices in the surrounding areas JUKES ESTATE AGENTS continue to be innovative and are essentially completely different & therefore unique in their approach to handling perhaps the most important thing you will ever do: Buy & Sell a property.

None of the 5 things above apply to JUKES ESTATE AGENTS. They have consistently

'topped' the charts by being the fastest selling local agent.

Their 'fall through' rate is less than 4% (the average is a staggering 40%).

Over 95% of their properties sell for asking price or above. This is achieved by ACCURATE VALUATIONS, SUPERB

MARKETING & AN AFTER SALE SERVICE THAT IS SECOND TO NONE!
