Kirn is a village in Argyll and Bute in the Scottish Highlands on the west shore of the Firth of Clyde on the Cowal peninsula and is within walking distance to the town centre of Dunoon which is the main resort on the beautiful Cowal Peninsula and the maritime gateway to the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park.  This one of the Firth of Clyde’s foremost resorts is built around the historic Castle Mound and famous for its large Victorian pier. Dunoon is accessible by direct land and sea routes. Indirectly by Rail at Gourock. The town lies towards the southern end of the A815 road. At Gourock Pier, a First ScotRail train service provides access to the National Rail Network via the Inverclyde Line at Glasgow Central Station. Public transport within Dunoon and the surrounding area is provided by various bus routes. With Ferry crossings being provided by local company Western Ferries carrying motor vehicles and foot passengers. Western Ferries ply the McInroys Point-to-Hunters Quay route. Whilst Cal Mac Ferries, runs the public service route (town centre to town centre)
at Glasgow Central Station. Public transport within Dunoon and the surrounding area is provided by various bus routes.
