Arbroath is a historic town located on the North Sea coast in Scotland, approximately 16 miles east-north east of Dundee. It has an attractive old harbour, long sandy beaches and stunning sandstone cliffs which stretch out on either side of the town. Arbroath abbey located near the centre of the town is a popular chose for visitors. The town's most famous product is the Arbroath Smokie, which was first created in the village of Auchmithie. It is line-caught haddock, smoke-cured over smouldering oak chips, and still made here in several family-run smokehouses tucked in around the harbour.
