Description

A four double bedroom detached country cottage, with off road parking and attractive gardens, within the village of Plush in the Piddle Valley.

The Property - Originally two cottages, this detached 18th Century Grade II listed country cottage is built of cob construction under a part thatched and part tiled roof. Located on a corner plot in the village of Plush, with a tributary of the River Piddle running through the boundary and extensive walled gardens.

The property has two entrances: one into the kitchen/dining room, and another into a hallway on the northeast side, offering potential for a self-contained annexe with its own staircase. This side includes a ground floor shower room (with plumbing for laundry appliances), a reception room suitable as a snug, study or 5th bedroom, and stairs leading to a large first-floor bedroom with eaves storage and garden views.

The central sitting room is dual aspect with a fireplace and wood-burning stove. The kitchen/dining room features an oil-fired Aga in an inglenook fireplace, hand-built pine units, and space for appliances and a large dining table. Stairs here lead to the three first-floor bedrooms and a spacious family bathroom with bath, WC, bidet, and wash basin.

Outside - Corner Cottage benefits from spacious, secluded gardens enclosed by a stone wall, with pedestrian and vehicular access. Off-road parking for two cars and a garden shed are included.

The mainly lawned garden features flower borders, mature trees, and countryside views. A patio wraps around the house, with a covered log store and boiler room housing the oil-fired boiler.

A tributary of the River Piddle borders the garden, with a small parcel of land across the river for potential gardening. Gated access leads to the village community orchard used for local events.

Situation - Corner Cottage has a wonderful position within the favoured village of Plush with its renowned public house, The Brace of Pheasants, cricket ground and spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. It is within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there is a good network of footpaths and bridleways. The nearby village of Piddletrenthide, about 1 ½ miles, has a village store, the well regarded Piddle Valley First School, hairdresser and village hall. There are a number of good public houses along the valley.

The county town of Dorchester with its shops, educational, recreational and cultural amenities including the weekly market on Wednesdays is about 9 miles to the south, together with the main line railway to London (Waterloo). Cross Channel ferries can be accessed from Poole.
