Description
As you enter the hallway, you immediately appreciate the space available. The natural progression is to follow the hallway into the stunning kitchen/breakfast room. The impressive modern contemporary fitted kitchen is presented in light fresh colours with a range of base and eye-level units, wood flooring and a breakfast bar with display lighting above. Natural light pours in through the large bay-style windows, with a door that leads out to the private patio.
The kitchen leads to a spacious living room with original period fireplace, high ceiling and triple window overlooking the patio.
The property has two double bedrooms with the main room leading to an en-suite bathroom. The spacious family bathroom provides a bathtub with shower unit above, tiled floors, w.c and wall mounted wash hand basin. There is also plenty of storage space throughout the property.
Outside is a wonderful private walled patio garden, with paved floor and private outhouses with potential of refurbishing. The entire apartment has been finished to a high standard, with tasteful and stylish décor throughout. The home is brimming with period features and the building has stunning architecture that can be seen from afar.
The property is minutes from the Marina and Norman Road, which offer numerous restaurants and a vibrant foodie scene. The beach and promenade are on the doorstep and Hastings town is a short stroll. Artist open houses run through the spring months, along with summer fairs, street parties and almost weekly festivals.
Looking for an evening out? Kino-Teatr, just a five-minute walk from the apartment, houses an independent cinema, theatre, the Baker-Mamonova Gallery, bar, and a Lebanese restaurant. It rubs shoulders with great local wine bars and award-winning pubs and restaurants (try the Wine Shed, The St Leonard and St Clements). Excellent local shops include Shop and Siren; there are many places specialising in vintage furniture/lighting and clothing on Kings Road and Norman Road. Superb cafés like Fika and Sea Kale serve great drinks and food, using locally sourced ingredients, including fish caught that day from the fishing beach and prize-winning world-class wines from the many vineyards nearby. St Leonards Warrior Square railway station is minutes away from the apartment, with direct links to London Charing Cross and Victoria (1hr, 30 mins) and Brighton (accessible within 50 mins), perfect for commuters.
Hastings has the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Europe, known as the Stade. The ruins of the castle built by William the Conqueror lie at the top of West Hill and offer wonderful views of the area and Channel. The steepest funicular railway in Britain takes passengers from the Old Town up to the castle. At the top of the East Hill funicular, situated near the fishing beach, is the Country Park, one of Hastings and St Leonards' many fine green spaces.
There are many other attractions in Hastings and St Leonards-on-Sea, both architectural and cultural. The fantastic Hastings Pier (recently named Pier of the Year and winner of the highly prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize) hosts numerous live gigs and shows; it is an iconic place to visit, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and The Clash having played there. The town also hosts the Hastings Half Marathon, the Jack in the Green Festival, Hastings Beer Festival, Coastal Currents, the Old Town Carnival and three seafood festivals. This year it launches its first literary festival. All are within walking distance of the apartment.
A vibrant place to live, St Leonards-on-Sea has lovely architecture, historical and cultural resonance and boasts a beautiful open coastline.
