The entrance hall is impressive, book ended by two spacious en suite bedrooms, one of these with an adjacent laundry room. The first floor provides reversed accommodation with superb kitchen and living space, opening out into a large conservatory, dining room which in turn flows into the garden. Across the landing, three generous bedrooms and a family bathroom completes the picture. Tregenver Cottage lies in just under half an acre of gloriously established and richly stocked garden where, to the rear, the conservatory and lawn provide idyllic vantage points to relax or entertain, whilst taking in the magnificent planting, pond and surroundings.
HISTORY
Tregenver Cottage was part of the Tregenver Estate, owned by the Killigrews, first appearing in historical records in the 1320’s. For centuries the estate would have owned much of Falmouth as we know it today. Tregenver Cottage was originally built as the Coach House and stables to neighbouring Tregenver House and remnants of the Staddle stones and granite horse posts still stand in the grounds today. Parts of the cottage date back to 1710 and it would have been of considerable importance to the estate, serving feed to the livestock and transport for the owners of the Manor. The coach House and stables were converted to a dwelling in the latter 20th Century and have evolved beautifully and have been fine-tuned and expanded since.
THE LOCATION
Tregenver Cottage is situated in a little-known spot, discretely accessed at the head of Venton Road which is a no-through road. The cottage lies beside Tregoniggie Woodland, on Falmouth’s green corridor, from where a delightful streamside walk leads to shops at Boslowick and beyond to Swanpool Nature reserve and beach. The excellent ‘early ‘til late’ Co-op and Penmere railway station are perhaps a ten-minute walk away, with the town centre and harbourside five minutes more.
Falmouth is Cornwall's premier south coast location and renowned for its sandy beaches, spectacular coastline and scenery. The area is an all-year-round resort and boasts some of Europe's most regarded sailing waters. This historical town presents a fascinating mix of charming individual boutiques, shops and has a reputation for its fresh sea food, and an abundance of cafes and restaurants provide a selection of worldwide cuisine and traditional local food.
Falmouth boasts the third largest natural harbour in the world and is renowned for its maritime facilities which offer some of the best boating and sailing opportunities in the country; little wonder the town is consistently ranked as one of the top five places to live in the UK..
