Description
Moormede is a one-off home which, according to its listed status, dates back to the early 1800s and is understood to have been the Land Agent/Bailiff's house for Colehayes Estate. Behind its distinctive arched Gothic-style multi-paned windowed facade lies an intriguing interior with an unusual layout and potential for refurbishment. The accommodation is arranged for the most part at ground floor level with a first floor bedroom (previously two rooms) which has a second floor attic room above (originally part of the accommodation).
Outside, Moormede is positioned off a rural bridle path with lovely country walks on the doorstep. Previous owners have parked in the lane opposite the property and there is space to create parking on Moormede's own land if required (subject to consents). Immediately to the rear of the house is a secluded walled courtyard plus a main wildlife garden which is of a very good size with a variety of fruit trees and shrubs, and bordered by a picturesque field and woodland backdrop.
As previously mentioned, the immediate area surrounding the Moormede offers many lovely country walks and rides and the open Moor at Haytor is just a few minutes car journey away. The town of Bovey Tracey (about 1.5 miles) provides a good range of everyday shops and amenities, including a recently opened Lidl supermarket, with a larger more comprehensive shopping centre available in the market town of Newton Abbot, around 7 miles to the south.
The A38 Devon Expressway is only 2.5 miles away and provides quick and easy access to the cities of Plymouth and Exeter, where the road joins the M5 motorway link.
