IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Located in Halovski Kolibi, abandoned village.
Every property listed is owned by Bulgariadirect.
There are no sellers, brokers, estate agents or commissions. As the name suggests, the sale is always direct.
12,460 SQM Off-Grid settlement
In BG the words "remote", "unique" and "abandoned" are often bandied around.
Today you're shopping with Bulgariadirect and "remote" means 3km from the nearest neighbour.
"Abandoned" means officially abandoned, i.e deleted from the map.
12,460 SQM + House remains + barn + well + graves + fruit trees
A cradle to grave investment in self sufficiency:
Even by penny pinching miser standards - today's property offers phenomenal value because... get this... council tax is cancelled in villages which don't exist!
After living tax-free, you can then stick it to the system one last time by saving thousands on funeral costs. Yes, your property comes with it's very own graveyard!
Consent to your own privacy policy with zero population - not a single Bulgar or even a Brit in sight!
Your nearest neighbour will need his passport to complain about your music. He lives 3km away, in Serbia.
Halovski Kolibi - Your village, which you will basically own, came about after WW1 and the signing of the Treaty of Neuilly.
The controversial treaty signed by Bulgarian Prime Minister and dodgy estate agent Aleksandar Stamboliyski conceded the village to King Peter 1, ruler of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later known as Yugoslavia, later known as a bunch of different countries).
Long story short: Bulgarian PM and dodgy estate agent Stamboliyski scammed King Peter I, by not telling him he needed a company. So, Serbia got some houses and Bulgaria kept some land. (How times change).
Hero to some, traitor to others, Stamboliyski would later have his right hand chopped off after signing one too many treaties.
Hand chopping treaties aside, this corner of Bulgaria is best known for the supernatural....
The village is named after Hala, a weather changing demon of Slavic legend, wreaking havoc here long before climate change appeared on your feed.
Hala is not the only star of the show in Halovski....
...meet the Samodivi, and spoiler alert... you may have neighbours after all!
The Samodivi, Bulgaria's forest nymphs, are spoken of by locals with a mix of caution and terror.
Some say they dance in this very clearing after dark.
Consumption of Rakia is also believed to aid with Samodivi sightings.
As always, we encourage you to research any location before buying. There are volumes written on the post WW1 partition of the village, the later de-mapping in 2012 and countless binge worthy YouTube videos on the Samodivi.
Hold an election and vote yourself mayor! Or why not start a good old cult? You could advertise volunteering positions to help you rebuild the settlement for free.
Whilst we know off-grid fantasists will have a field day with this one. We will make the effort to remind one and all - this is a real off-grid project, the well requires cleaning as will the "road" into the village. That's a good 1 km worth of Bulgarian gardening in store!
The house* and barn should be considered only as sources of building materials to be recycled into a new structure of your choosing, strictly within existing footprints.
*limited time offer, the house may not stand much longer!
In honour of Balkan tradition, we will today include a good old fashioned bribe - Free Company Formation - for anyone brave enough to take on this project!
Ownership of agricultural land by EU & non-EU citizens holding under five years of residency in Bulgaria, can presently be facilitated only through the sale of a holding company together with the land. The company will be registered free of charge and named by the buyer prior to transfer together with the land.
12,640 SQM Land + House remains + Barn + Well + Graves and no neighbours, except for forest nymphs and weather demons!
