Local Information
This cottage is situated in Dunkirk a village neighbouring Boughton under Blean, conveniently located to access the whole of the South East with exceptional ease.
Dunkirk / Boughton Under Blean offers a renowned local pub, village shop plus its only five miles to the Medieval City of Canterbury. With wonderful historic buildings to visit during your stay in Kent, Canterbury offers so much to see and do, perhaps an evening at The Marlowe Theatre with top West end shows, or try a spot of shopping and of course a visit to the historic medieval Cathedral. Canterbury itself has a wealth of history to explore and visit being a World Heritage Site, with a good range of restaurants and bars, a wonderful pedestrianised shopping centre and many individual boutiques that make this a must during your stay in this self-catering holiday cottage in Kent.
Faversham within 2 miles of the cottage is one of the oldest towns where you can visit and tour around Britain's Oldest Brewery - Shepherd Neame, enjoy the sights and sounds and wonderful smells of pressed hops in the fully working brewery where award winning beers and ales are made, the tour ends a wonderful afternoon out with a visit to "The Vaults" the barrelling room, complete with the vintage signs and vehicles including the Neame's own antique car collection.
Macknade Fine foods, a fabulous indoor farmers market, offers a superb choice of both local and exotic produce, just asking to be sampled either in house at their cafe or to take home and enjoy at home - our favourite of all are the white chocolate canolos with lemon cream filling!
Boughton under Blean offers popular gastro pubs all within a short distance from the cottage, although parking is easy and the cottage is within easy reach of the main bus route between Faversham and Canterbury - making it the best place to start off a Kent holiday escape. Nearby Boughton is home to a charming golf course
If you are seeking the beach and water sports head 5 miles North to Whitstable with its renowned harbour where you can buy fresh fish direct from the boats, saunter along the picturesque promenade and stop for a drink in one of the water front pubs or even sample the famous oysters.
