Description

Ridge House is a substantial five bedroom detached modern family home set in a tranquil, semi-rural location on the fringes of Torquay, providing extensive family living space and enjoying far reaching views over both the rolling fields of the Rocombe Valley as well as sea views across into Lyme Bay and along the East Devon coastline. Presently arranged as a sizeable family home the property offers great versatility and could be adapted to accommodate the extended family, subject to any necessary consents. Set in a good size plot the property benefits from ample driveway parking, a large but easily maintained lawned garden and spacious paved terrace, all enabling enjoyment of the English Riviera sunshine.

The village of Maidencombe is serenely set between the coastal towns of Torquay and Teignmouth, both offering an array of amenities, leisure activities and mooring facilities.  The market town of Newton Abbot is also easily accessible with railway station providing direct links to most major cities.  The coastal road will also provide an easy commute to Exeter.  Locally, fine dining at Orestone Manor with both Maidencombe Beach and the scenic South West Coastal Path within walking distance.  Also nearby is the village of Stokeinteignhead where the traditional ambience of a village pub can be enjoyed and there is also a highly regarded primary school.

OWNER INSIGHT

"We moved to Ridge House in early 2021, having lived in Surrey since 2003. Having grown up nearby in St Marychurch and Rocombe, we already knew and loved the area and immediately saw its potential as a family home following its use as a holiday let. What makes Ridge House so special is its unique setting. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and enjoying wonderful sea views, it feels private and peaceful while remaining close to beaches and nearby towns. The sense of space, tranquillity and safety has made it a wonderful place for our children to grow up. We have loved enjoying the beaches, countryside and local towns as a family. In 2024, we secured full planning permission and building control approval for a significant renovation and development. With our children now needing to be closer to secondary school, we have made the difficult decision to move. We leave with heavy hearts and hope the next owners love Ridge House as much as we have."
