    STAGE 1 APPRAISAL
    If you are thinking of selling your property, we'll be very happy to visit and give you a report on market conditions, as well as an initial no-obligation appraisal of your home.

    STAGE 2 HOME REPORT
    You have to provide a Home Report to show anyone who is genuinely interested in buying your property: this is a legal requirement. A Home Report has three compulsory features: A Single Survey and Valuation, an Energy Report and a Property Questionnaire. We can advise you on the best platforms or firms to use to create your Home Report. Alternatively, we can arrange for a Home Report to be carried out and produced on your behalf.

    STAGE 3 PREPARATION
    We will give you honest, well-informed advice on the best way to sell your property, and we will create a bespoke marketing strategy for you. We'll then prepare the material that will be used to market your property. This step involves the commissioning of high-quality photography of your home and the production of floor plans. You'll be able to choose from a number of proven brochure styles. There is also the opportunity to have a video of your property made. Your property will be placed on our website, which attracts an average of 166,000 visits a month and is linked to key property portals such as Rightmove, OnTheMarket.com and TheLondonOffice.co.uk.

    STAGE 4 LAUNCH
    When your property is launched to market, a For Sale board will go up and viewings will start. If you are unable to attend, a member of staff will conduct viewings on your behalf. Our database contains the details of over 8,000 active buyers. We will directly contact all relevant buyers with details of your property. We can send out information through our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. We can also advertise your property at competitive rates in national newspapers and magazines

    Simon Rettie FRICS

    Managing Director

    Simon began his property career in 1985 when he joined Strutt & Parker and qualified as a chartered surveyor. In 1989 he formed Edinburgh & Glasgow Investment Company Ltd where he was Managing Director until 2003. During this period Simon was also a Director of Residential Estate Agents Limited (REAL). Simon is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and also a Trustee of the Scottish Civic Trust.

    James Whitson

    Director

    James is a Director of Rettie & Co. with responsibility of the Edinburgh sales teams for private and off market residential sales within Edinburgh and the surrounding countryside. Prior to joining Rettie & Co. in 2001, James worked as an accountant in Edinburgh for two years before establishing his own property search company in London for three years. James graduated from Newcastle University in 1995.

    Max Mills

    Director

    Edinburgh born and bred, few people know the city as intimately as Max does. Having begun his working career at Rettie & Co as a trainee, Max has quickly climbed the corporate ladder and through his extensive network of contacts, excellent communication skills and close attention to detail has established himself as one of the Capital's principal brokers. Max's primary responsibilities include the pricing and marketing of some of Edinburgh's finest homes and overseeing a team of 10 sales people.

    Michelle Turnbull

    Personal Assistant

    Michelle joined Rettie & Co in 2008 as Personal Assistant to Simon Rettie, Chris Hall and Andrew Smith as well Alastair Houlden and Nick Ainscough. Michelle has a wealth of experience, having spent 26 years working as a PA for many of the main surveying firms in Edinburgh including DTZ, Strutt & Parker and Cushman & Wakefield.

    Associate Director

    Gavin started with Rettie & Co in mid 2009 having previously worked with other property firms in residential sales across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Originally from Ayrshire, Gavin brought extensive knowledge of the property market, working successfully with developer and private clients to achieve an outstanding sales record across Scotland as part of our New Homes team. In 2013, Gavin moved across into Edinburgh Residential Salesand specialises in carrying out market appraisals and advising clients on the sale and marketing of their property within Edinburgh.

    Maria recently rejoined Rettie & Co.'s Edinburgh residential sales team after working within the Glasgow sales team since 2008.
